Frequently asked questions
Wholesale availability
All of my pieces are handmade and decorated as one-offs, for this reason, wholesale is challenging for me. There are so many beautiful galleries in the UK and abroad and I would love to see my work displayed there, but I only have so many hours in the day.
Sizing details
I try to be accurate about sizing but as everything is handmade there is some inevitable variation in sizing, especially with t he inevitable shrinking that occurs during drying and firing. If the size of an item is crucial to you, please double-check with me before ordering.
Delivery to USA
Please ensure you give me a 'phone number as UPS won't accept a USA delivery without one. Most of the work I send to USA I am able to use the incredible UPS Priority Guaranteed service, with around 5 days for delivery and fully tracked, I cannot fault it.
Shortly after dispatch, you will receive a tracking number, this allows you to follow the journey of your pottery via the UPS website.
Any queries at any stage of the delivery process please contact me.
Delivery to Europe, Asia, Australasia and beyond
Please ensure you give me a 'phone number as UPS won't accept a delivery to an address outside UK without one.
Deliveries outside of UK, USA, mainland Europe, Japan and some others, it can be difficult to keep up with delivery costs, please do get in touch and I can find the best way to send your pottery.
I will use UPS Guaranteed service or other courier with around 3-7 days for delivery and fully tracked. Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed is an alternative that is sometimes required, especially for off-the-beaten track destinations.
Shortly after dispatch, you will receive a tracking number, this should allow you to follow the journey of your pottery.
Any queries at any stage of the delivery process please contact me.
Delivery of large items
Large items sent abroad can incur high delivery charges, currently I use UPS Guaranteed for all my deliveries. From time to time I offer free delivery on my pottery, especially to the USA. Please do message me if you have any particular concerns regarding delivery. As always, a 'phone number is essential for UPS deliveries abroad, let me have that when you place an order or shortly after.
Relocated or moving?
Please ensure you are using the correct address for your order, especially if you or the recipient has moved or relocated recently. Please do double-check the delivery address you are giving!
Local customers wishing to collect their pottery
Local customers who wish to collect their work directly from me, please contact me to arrange a suitable time. Alternatively I am usually able to deliver locally.
Delivery in person
Very locally (within Sevenoaks area) I'm more than happy to drop off completed work especially if you or the recipient is for example, housebound or does not have transport.
Gift wrapping and packaging
My gift wrapping is pretty basic. My emphasis is always on delivering my work safely and securely and this means strong and functional packaging. If you select gift packaging there will not be a priced-up invoice in the package, though if it is a delivery to the States or other country by UPS it may need to have an invoice both inside and attached outside for customs clearance. I do include an attractive Olley Pottery postcard with all my work and I am more than happy to write on this a handwritten message for the recipient, just let me know when you make your order or send me a message shortly after.
VAT charged to EU customers
As the Brexit situation beds in, rules have changed for import VAT and how EU customers are charged.
At the time of writing, items purchased by EU customers costing €150 or less should have EU VAT (normally 20%) added at the point of sale, ie. as you complete your Etsy purchase.
Items purchased by EU customers costing in excess of €150 will still have to pay EU VAT (normally 20%), but it is likely to be demanded when you receive delivery of your parcel.
Things are taking a while to settle down and I am monitoring how things work in practice. Please do get in touch with me if you have any concerns about ordering from me and I will do my very best to smooth the process so you can get your pottery without undue hassle or expense.
